The Brownsville-Haywood County Chamber of Commerce receives funding from its member base and from the city and county. It is governed by a board of directors who serve on a volunteer basis. The board meets monthly.

To unite, guide, support and speak for business, industry, agriculture and quality of life issues of the people of Haywood County by sponsoring programs and activities which stimulate economic growth, promote civic pride and encourage community involvement.

We have 22 industries, manufacturing everything from garden hoses to picture frames, in our community. Our people are hard-working and friendly. Retail Development Director: Richard Carraway

In 2006 members of the Brownsville-Haywood County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors hired a Retail Development Director to promote the community’s retail businesses and to seek out and recruit new retail establishments for the city and county.

Richard Carraway is a native of Haywood County and a graduate of Haywood High School. He resides in Brownsville and in Dyersburg, Tennessee. He holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

He has had an extensive business background, including ownership of several businesses in the Dyersburg area. He currently owns Carraway Investment Properties, is a partner in Sunsational Tan LLC, and was a partner in Carraway and White Financial Company from 1976 to 2005, offering accounts receivable financing for small manufacturing, construction and specialty retail businesses. Also from 1975 to 2002, he owned and operated Sir Richard’s Men Shoppe in Dyersburg. He has also worked as an accountant, has developed resorts in the Caribbean, and served as Director for Tri-33 Communications.
